All over the internet is the same thing. Girls posing in swimwear with perfectly toned abs. In underwear with flat stomachs. Sat on benches and sun loungers with the sun reflected off perfectly defined bodies.

The internet is full of these images, giving the impression that this is how you should look. This is what the ideal is. And you should aim to look like this to.
why don't i look like that?
Where some days these images are innocent, we all have those days where we obsess over them, and wonder what is wrong with us. Why don't i look like that?

Fad diets, fasting diets, there are loads out there. Gyms are all over the place, and even online videos available to help you lose that body fat and slim down.

But who says you have to have a flat tummy? What difference is it going to make to your life?

I'm not saying be over weight, and that this is healthy, but a flat stomach does not define this.
... annoyed for not looking like the 'ideal'...
This week has been a down week for me. I have had days where i have felt low, days where i don't want to look in the mirror, and days i have felt fat. I woke up one day this week and was annoyed for not looking like the 'ideal'. I scrolled Instagram and was met with the same perfect bodies. Everyone seemed to have a flat stomach.

I spoke with my brother, a trainee personal trainer, who assured me that people who seem to have flat tummies when they stand up, will still have rolls when they sit down. He told me to stop looking down on my stomach when i am sitting, its not a flattering angle.

The more i thought about what he said, the more i started to really pay attention. The images online, no one is sat properly. I then sat down and stretched the way they do, and my stomach wasn't half as bad as i thought it was.
..editing tools, lighting tricks and more contribute to these images ...
Some models have started to showcase this on their pages, and i could not be more supportive of the movement. They show how sitting down, they have rolls. Standing up and arched right, they have flat stomachs. They have shown us how editing tools, lighting tricks, and more, contribute to those images.

...social media is a dangerous place ...
I have said it before in a post, and i will say it again. Social media is a dangerous place. There is too much pressure on people to be and act certain ways. To change how they are, and who they are, to fit into this perfectionist idea.

Personally, i have come a long way with my weight. From being a size 18 and weighing 13 stone, i managed to drop down to under 11 stone and fit comfortably in a 12-14. Knowing that now i am at a healthier position, it doesn't mean i don't have "fat days".

Looking back on comparisons to my old self, are much healthier than to compare to strangers on the internet. Some people have a naturally bigger frame than others, and some have Photoshop.
... these body types are more of what we see in public...
We need to see more realistic body images in mainstream. More girls with a muffin top, chunky legs, a double chin. Why not? These body types are a lot more of what we see in public, so why not on the internet.

Who says we need to have a flat stomach to be attractive and sexy? Who says everyone should have one?

If you sit down and you have rolls, join the club. A little love handle situation going on- Rock it!

You are you, and as long as you feel happy and comfortable, don't let other people make you pressured to change. So i will embrace my rolls, rock my curves double chin and all, and stop comparing myself to models on the internet.
