We have all been there when you find our hair has turned white and flaky after styling. The effort of having to rewash and restyle because you look like you have dandruff or been in the snow. But did you know that there is a way to avoid this?

A simple product compatibility test can help save so much time on wash day.

Tell me more ...
A product compatibility test, can be done on the back of you hand (or your palm) and will show you how products will react together. If they combine well on your hand, they will combine well in your hair. There are 3 outcomes:

  1. The combination of choice, mixes well together. Smooth and creamy texture. This is a good cocktail and you can go ahead and use this in your hair.
  2. The combination becomes tacky and lumpy. Avoid this mix. This is what it is going to do in your hair. Try them with something else instead of together.
  3. The combination appears to have no clumps, but they don't seem to be combining. Then this mix may or may not work well in your hair, so the choice is down to you. Give it a go perhaps and then note it down for next time.
How accurate is this test?
I have skipped this test before with products, and then when i have been styling my hair (especially whenever i rake product in) i have found creamy chunks between my fingers. When i look at my hair, there they are. I then did the compatibility test and found out i could have saved myself a lot of time, as now i had to rewash my hair to get it all out. At the same time, i have had products which were in reaction 3 work out to be fine in my hair, hence me advising you try it and see.

How do i do the test?
The compatibility test is really simple, easy and quick. Take a little of your first product (usually a leave-in) and rub this on the back of your hand. Then apply a little of the second next to or on top of this. Rub them in together using your finger, and see how they blend.

Do you have a demo?
Of course! Check out below how i do this test and the different results.

I hope this has been of help and helps save you time on your next wash day. Another tip from this test. Make sure to use the same products you used on wash day, throughout the week. We don't realise that product is still in our hair when we go ahead and add another one a few days later, and these products haven't been tested before hand. If you stick to the same products between wash days, your results will last a lot longer.
